Where did 2013 go?
The fishing got better as 2013 progressed and then came hunting season. I tended to drift from my boat on the bay to my 4x4 at Cotulla. The hunting was just ok. We managed a couple decent bucks, but the hogs were the meat this past year. Our lease has become an oil and gas drilling platform. The owner has become very wealthy over night due to the production and our hunting has suffered due to the production. Not sure what 2014 will bring.
Now back to fishing in the new year. Two things have really slowed us down thus far. The weather and my knee replacement. The weather ( Climate Change!!!) has been horrific. Since the first of the year I lost count of the number of fronts we have had hit South Texas. It has seemed that the wind has blown harder and longer this Spring. In the past a front would hit and three days later we would have a good streach of calm weather. Not so for 2014, the northers have seemed to pile up on one another. The bay has seen more muddy water then probably anytime I can remember.

Then in mid January I had my knee replaced. That was a good and needed thing., but it put me out of commission for about eight weeks. It still hurts and swells, but it is not keeping me off or out of the water.

Still some big trout are being caught and still on top waters!
